Notional Schematic of Ship’s Integrated DDX Power System in the VTB.
The general structure of the system is developed under US Navy DD(X) program. System includes two Main Turbine Generator sets each rated at 36 MW and two Auxiliary Turbine Generator sets rated at 4 MW supplying the bus with 13.8KV, 3-phase, 60 Hz power. The IPS employs two propulsion motors each rated at 36 MW.
The concept demonstration schematic of Ship Service Load Center shown in figure presents a general zonal structure. A system may consist of several to many AC or DC zones connected as shown in figure. Power for DC zones is derived from the same 13.8 kV bus through utilization of appropriate step down transformers and power rectifiers.
