Although, applications of PEBB-based power converters in a shipboard environment are of primary interest, other applications are also considered since they drive commercialization of the PEBB technology. The figure below shows several potential applications of PEBBs as synchronous rectifiers, inverters, motor controllers, and so forth.
As an example of using PEBB technology in other applications, the figure below (a) shows the schematic for a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) using PEBBs functioning as inverters to drive the vehicle's drive motor. The simulation of this concept is implemented in VTB. Figures (b), (c) and (d) are a demonstration of VTB's flexibility, the vehicle is modeled and an interactive virtual prototype is build and test driven in VTB's virtual environment.
